House Swap with us

Suzie and Yvonne - We are a couple in our early 60s who both work from home. We are eagerly awaiting retirement but, in the interim, want to make the most of our ability to work remotely by combining travel and work. We are very respectful of our own and others' property and have previously hosted a holiday home. We have family in Queensland with a new grandchild due in April. We have a 3 month window of opportunity, from mid June to end of August 2025, in which we are looking to find one or more swaps in Queensland and Perth.

The House

The House

We have a small, modern home in the charming seaside village of Mapua, Tasman. Although it has 2 bedrooms, the single bedroom will not be available due to our own storage requirements. The master bedroom has a modern ensuite bathroom and walk through wardrobe. A second modern bathroom is also available.

The house is open plan with north facing large windows so is very warm and sunny. The section has been newly landscaped with large decks and native plants and has been designed for low maintenance. We live in a very friendly, desirable neighbourhood with lots of community activities for all.

Mapua is a popular holiday spot for tourists and locals alike with a great vide and a lively cluster of restaurants, art galleries, wine bars and a craft brewery. Situated 30mins from Nelson, it is a popular stopover on the Nelson Great Taste bike trail. Within a stones throw of Mapua, you will find multiple vineyards, bike trails, hiking tracks and unlimited opportunities for adventure.

The things we love about living here

  • We love the ability to walk down to the sea every morning for our daily exercise.
  • We love to walk or bike to the village wharf for a wine and fish and chips on a Friday evening. No driving required.
  • We are surrounded by the Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks so have unlimited options for hiking, camping and mountain biking.
  • Tasman Bay provides easy kayaking, swimming and fishing opportunities.
  • Nelson is the hops growing region for New Zealand so craft breweries abound. For the wine lovers, it is also a popular wine growing region with lovely tasting rooms and vineyard restaurants.
  • Being surrounded by hills, Mapua has a mild winter climate with some of the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand.
  • Like us, people move to this region for adventure, art, nature and a great quality of life. Once you come, you never leave.
