Warrnambool is a coastal town of approximately 35,000 people. Located on the south west coast of Victoria, approximately 250km west of Melbourne. Warrnambool is known for its beaches, rivers, parks, gardens and maritime history. It is home to Flagstaff Hill maritime village and museum, which hosts a state of the art sound and light show. It is also home to the Marema dogs, which have been trained to protect the penguins that call the local Middle Island home (as seen in the film Oddball). Also by the beach is the divine Deep Blue hot springs and the huge Lake Pertobe adventure playground. It is a short drive to other small historic towns including the beautiful fishing village of Port Fairy (20 mins) and historic Koroit (10 mins). The Tower Hill nature reserve is less than 10 minutes drive and is home to a variety of native wildlife including kangaroos, emus and koalas. Travel about 30 minutes in the othe direction and you will discover the stunning shipwreck coast. With world renowned landmarks including the 12 Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge, you could spend a day or a week exploring the area.
