House Swap with us

Having retired (from University and Primary education sectors), we are enjoying the opportunity to travel more extensively. We have previously spent time in Sydney visiting our two nieces. Now that two great-nieces are due to arrive, we hope to spend longer in the city so that we can get to know the additions to the family.

The House

The House

Situated in a quiet residential cul-de-sac, our home is a traditional English detached house, built in the 1930s. In the thirty years we have lived here, we have regularly modernised the house, but also kept period features such as original doors and picture rails.
There are two double bedrooms, one with a small ensuite shower room. The third, small bedroom will be used as storage. There is also a family bathroom on the first floor, and an additional toilet downstairs. We have a spacious kitchen/diner, and a comfortable sitting room, with cosy open fire for chilly evenings. An additional room is currently used as office space/relaxation area. There is a double sofa bed for occasional guests.
The kitchen leads onto a decked area with table, chairs and sofas, and BBQ. Automatic awnings provide useful shade so the area can be used throughout the day. The driveway at the front of the house has space for two cars.

The things we love about living here

  • The quiet location, walking distance to Seaford town centre and seafront (10 minutes).
  • Downland/forest walks.
  • Beautiful cliff-top countryside, including the iconic Seven Sisters National Park and Beachy Head
  • The town centre has a choice of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops.
  • There is a leisure centre / gym / swimming pool and two golf courses in Seaford.
  • Proximity to the lively city of Brighton (17 miles) and the sedate seaside town of Eastbourne (9 miles) with regular buses to each- the best of all worlds!
  • History on the doorstep - there are many castles, battle sites, stately homes and gardens to explore.
  • Twice-hourly train to central London (90 minute journey). We like to take in a matinee in the West End, enjoy a post-theatre meal and be home by bedtime!
  • A range of local vineyards, with tasting rooms and restaurants.
  • Only ten minutes to Newhaven ferry, which takes you to the charming port of Dieppe, France in 4 hours. From there, Paris is only 2 hours by train.
