While I typically prefer to travel to locations that are similar to where I live – that is, inner city, in proximity to cafes, galleries, parks – I am also interested in spending time in coastal and rural locations. I’m a non-smoker and take great care of the homes I visit. While I am new to home exchange, I have used home stay for a decade and am able to provide owners’ reviews verifying that I am a considerate visitor and take good care of their homes. My breezy, inner city 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 8th floor apartment on the Brisbane River is just 2.5km from the Brisbane CBD. The apartment has modern bathrooms, a laundry, a fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning, and underground lock-up parking. On-site facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, and tennis court. Security is excellent. I use the second bedroom as a study; its fold out couch converts the room back into a second bedroom for guests. The apartment has a spacious, open feeling, with great 180 degree views of the Brisbane River and CBD adding to the sense of space.
Within a 5-minute walk are a ferry terminal, bus stop, train station, and the Wesley Hospital. There are many coffee and dining options nearby, including on Park Road, and in Rosalie, which also has a dine-in cinema. There's a supermarket and local shops in the area, and a quick drive or one stop by train will take you to the Toowong Shopping Centre. The apartment's proximity to the Brisbane River also gives you quick access to the bicycle and walking/running paths along the river.

My apartment is ideally located in Auchenflower, an inner-city suburb of Brisbane on the Brisbane River. Within walking distance or a or a short bus, train, or ferry ride away are the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Queensland Museum and Art Gallery, and Gallery of Modern Art. While there, you can also visit the markets, restaurant precinct, and year-round free swimming beach in the South Bank precinct. Suncorp Stadium is only 2km away, and the University of Queensland is a 4km walk or 15-minute ferry trip. You can participate in a variety of river-based activities such as canoeing, sailing, and river excursions, or visit the weekend fresh food markets in Milton and West End, or the Botanic Gardens at nearby Mt Cootha and in the CBD. There are plenty of dining hubs across the river in West End, and downstream at Newstead and New Farm. If you're up for a day trip, you can visit the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, or offshore islands to experience coastal beaches or hinterland mountains.

Anne's beautiful apartment was a joy to call home for the month we spent in Auchenflower near Brisbane. The complex had such a lovely, calm energy with only three apartments per floor, giving such generous space to stretch out compared to our modern apartment! Her place is very tasteful and filled with amenities. Jumping on buses and ferries to be in Brisbane CBD in minutes was fantastic, and we loved wandering over to the West End or through the picturesque hills of Auchenflower itself. We loved the local gyms, cafes, parks and walks along the river quite a bit. Anne is a pleasure to have swapped with, such a warm and wonderful person, excited to make her place your home, and with an incredible attention to detail that was such a reassurance for our first ever swap. If you have the opportunity to swap with Anne and to her beautiful spot in Auchenflower, we can't recommend it enough!

Anne was our first house-swap on this platform, and set such a high standard as our first swapper it will be hard to beat! Her apartment is a spacious, well appointed and beautifully furnished home on the 10th floor, with light and airy rooms and a fantastic view of the city and the river in Auchenflower. Just a 5 minute ferry-ride to the city or southbank and a short walk from the lively Milton shopping and restaurant strip. From the start communication was clear, detailed and thoughtful, and throughout our stay, we were in touch exchanging letters, and other important info necessary to ensure a smooth transition, and that any questions were answered. With a carpark, convenient location and a wonderfully clean and organised space, it was no surprise Annie left our home in a spotless condition - almost better than before we left. Little touches and communications were a highlight as were recommendations of places to go and things to see. I couldn't recommend Annie more highly if you have a chance to swap with her in the future!

Anne's home swap was a fantastic experience. Anne home is located centrally only a few minutes drive to the CBD or to Toowong shopping center. There are buses and ferry stops all within a very short walk of the apartment complex. Anne's home is welcoming, comfortable and Anne was incredibly organised with all relevant information contained in an information pack for the home, appliances information and everything to make the home swap comfortable. The car swap was great as I was able to visit family while I was in Brisbane, which made it feel like a home away from home. I honestly could not speak more highly of my experience with Anne and our home swap. I would welcome a future home swap with Anne any time in the future.
