Home exchange and house swap holiday accommodation in West Hobart, Looking over Hobart, TAS
We are a retired couple now living in beautiful Tasmania having "escaped" from the mainland a few years ago. We love living close to Hobart's centre and are keen to share it with our guests. Phil recently completed a career in teaching and psychology, supporting children and young people. Amanda's career has been in libraries and the community sector. Our wonderful adult children, and growing collection of grandchildren, live interstate and overseas. Our interests include travel, reading, playing croquet, choral singing, history and volunteering as well as exploring Hobart's foodie and cultural treasures and walking among Tasmania's spectacular forests, mountains and coasts. We are very house proud and would take great care of your home.

Situated high on West Hobart's hills overlooking the city and River Derwent our house commands spectacular views. Built around 1900 and extensively renovated in 2009 it has an open plan light and roomy ambience while retaining Federation charm.
The main floor comprises lounge and dining rooms, television room, double bedroom with queen bed, bathroom, laundry, and kitchen. The modern kitchen has an electric oven, gas cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, huge fridge and all appliances needed. The laundry missed out on the most recent renovation but is serviceable with front loading washing machine, tumble dryer and includes a second toilet. This main level is reached from street level up a flight of stairs to the front door. Alternatively ramped access takes you to the back doors, where is also found a sunny deck with comfortable seating and eating nook, gas barbecue and a pleasant garden shaded by gum trees.
Back inside and up some winding stairs the loft level comprises a "tree house" master bedroom with queen bed as well as a parents' retreat featuring wide river views and city lights.

We enjoyed a months swap with Phil and Amanda in Hobart Feb/March 2023 and would thoroughly recommend their beautifully renovated character home and locality. We enjoyed every modern comfort. Their views over the centre city and hillside suburia were spectacular. We found that Phil and Amanda were friendly and easy to negotiate with. Our home was as we had left it with the lovely surprise of gifts from our generous swappers. We would thoroughly recommend this house swap. Andrew & Aileen Kelly.
