House Swap with us

We are a retired couple in our mid 70's living in Busselton in Western Australia. And we are keen croquet players. So the nearest croquet club is always of interest. Our two daughters live in the northern hemisphere. One daughter and son in law plus three grandchildren live in Wheatley, Oxfordshire in the UK. Our other daughter and son in law live in Berlin, Germany. We are family oriented and love keeping in touch with facetime and what's app chats and photos. But even better we like to meet up annually and we have joined this house swap group to facilitate this. Our interests include camping trips in the company of friends and local extended family, growing our own vege, reading ,film and classical music or live theatre events. We have a special interest in wildflowers and birds. And we fish along the WA coast mainly from the beach but sometimes from our small dinghy. Simultaneous and non simultaneous exchanges are both fine. Oxford UK, Berlin Germany and Nelson New Zealand are our favoured overseas destinations. As are suburbs or countryside adjacent to Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart and Sydney within Australia.

The House

The House

A beach location! We live in a modern, 4 bedroom 2 bathroom home in the beachside suburb of Geographe three streets back from the Bay of the same name. It is an easy maintainance property.
There is an ensuite master bedroom with walk in robe to the front. The two guest bedrooms are set up as a double and a single with access to a separate bathroom. A study would be fitted with a sofa bed should a fourth bedroom be needed. These are located at the rear and side of our home looking out on gardens.
The social hub is the central lounge, dining kitchen area. But we often entertain more informally, enjoying the warm sunshine on the enclosed back verandah area or sit out and BBQ a meal in the small garden .
Jeanette enjoys machine quilting and fine art print making. She has a sewing machine and a small press set up with her art materials in an annex of the verandah. There is also a quiet reading/music room with a piano.
We grow our own vegetables in easily maintained reticulated ,containers. But you need only attend to these if you enjoy gardening. There is double driveway parking for cars. And a garage which houses a dinghy and sundry sporting gear such as bicycles and tools. Bicycles are available for your use. ( You need a skipper's licence). The garage would not accommodate a car unless we were away with the dinghy at the time of your stay.

The things we love about living here

  • Proximity (600m) to the swimming beaches of Geographe Bay..
  • Bike/walking paths which enable us to access the long jetty, cafes, fortnightly markets and swimming beaches and to keep fit.
  • We are keen members of the Busselton Croquet Club, choir and university of the third age playreading group.
  • Busselton has a good hospital and a relaxed community vibe.
  • Easy access (within 50 kms drive) of Bunbury, Nannup, Dunsborough/ Yallingup River , Margaret River and Augusta.

It was a pleasure to meet Jeanette and Trevor we felt very confident that we were leaving our home in good hands. As indeed was the case every thing was left clean and tidy and many thanks for the flowers.

Barry and Pam from Ryde NSW (Apr 2024)

Everything about this house swap, our first, worked like a charm. We loved Jeanette and Trevor’s well-equipped house and garden. The location was terrific, with Busselton offering plenty of choice of cafes, restaurants and shops. We walked on the jetty and seafront, did the local ParkRun, a Whale Watching boat trip (most successful) and some lovely walks in the Leeuwin-Cape Naturaliste National Park. The wildflowers were stunning at this time of year (October). Swapping cars too really helped to make this a most enjoyable few days away and we now want to do more! Thank you Jeanette and Trevor, our friendly hosts who made everything so easy for us.
