Home exchange and house swap holiday accommodation in Kingston, Kingston Beach, TAS
Born in the UK, we moved to Perth in the early 80's and worked in the oil & gas industry for 30 years. We took the easy route and avoided children so were lucky enough to travel a lot, away from peak times and longer duration. Over the years, we have travelled extensively, though some may say that we've only chosen the 'safe' countries such as the USA, Europe and New Zealand but we prefer to settle in a single location and see the area properly, rather than flitting over the surface of everywhere. Retirement brought a lot of change and we moved to Hobart in 2018 for a cooler life and the variety that Tasmania offers. Then Covid hit, putting a hold on travelling so we have not swapped since Christmas 2017 but we're finally back in business. Yay !! Townhouse with a View !
Built in 1987, our townhouse faces due north and, at about 150m above the Derwent River, it has great views from the Tasman Peninsula right around to Mt Wellington, including Hobart's CBD and the Tasman Bridge.
It is 5 km from the city centre with two good local stores (Lipscomb and Hill St) a short distance away and it is in a small cul-de-sac, detached from the only other home in the strata title, so it is very quiet with no traffic noise.
There are two main bedrooms, both en-suite with queen beds and a third used as an office so it comfortably sleeps 4.
On the outside it is pretty brutalist 1980's office-block architecture but inside we have softened it up with all the modern conveniences you'd expect. There's a wood-burning heater which puts a lovely, cosy feel to a night indoors and a sonus sound system which allows you access to over 12,000 songs in our personal music library. There's a lock-up garage, herb garden, wi-fi and books galore.

There is 1 endorsement for this house swap member:
We swapped houses with Deb and Jed for six weeks over Christmas 2017. Communication was always clear and open, with prompt replies and flexible ideas. All this made it very easy to arrange the swap and we found an immediate trust developed so we did not bother with the swap agreement forms. They were so warm, trusting, enthusiastic and completely reliable in all things. Jed & Deb looked after our home beautifully and took extraordinarily good care of our two border terriers. The dogs were walked daily, fed regularly and so well loved that they thrived while we were away! Their home in Perth is in a superb location: walking distance from the ocean, great delis and local coffee shops as well as restaurants along the seafront. The park/tennis club opposite their house provided us with a great spot to entertain my granddaughter. Their home was perfect for us with a stunning pool, shelter from the sun and a beautiful outdoor seating area beside the bbq. The air conditioning kept us cool as did the beautiful trees at the front of the house. We felt at home in their place with very comfortable beds, lovely bathroom and kitchen and a wonderful family room. Jed and Deb are perfect hosts : "highly recommended" we can't thank them enough.
