House Swap with us

We are retired academics. Our backgrounds are in health and theatre. We have travelled extensively in the past and now would like to choose destinations where we can stay awhile and get to know the area. We are very neat and tidy and keen gardeners. We would treat your house with the utmost respect and care. We are keen to spend some time in Canberra where our son is based. We often travel with our small house trained ,non shedding Maltese Terrier so some place where he is welcome would suit us best.

The House

The House

Our beach house is set up for easy living. It has been totally renovated and is modern and streamlined in appearance. It has two bedrooms, one has a queen sized bed and an ensuite bathroom. The second has two single beds. There are two connecting living rooms. The kitchen is modern and has dishwasher and electric stove. There is a second bathroom and a small european laundry. At the front of the house there is a large covered deck which provides filtered ocean views. As well there is a covered outside eating area at the back of the house. The house has TV but no wifi or phone connected. Water is supplied by a rainwater tank. A wood heater provides excellent heating in winter.

This is our holiday house so it is easy for swaps to be non-simultaneous.

The main beach which is very safe for children is about 3 minutes walk away. Other beaches are a longer walk or a short drive away. There is also a national park with beautiful beaches approximately 15 minutes drive from the house. Greens Beach has only one shop which sells most essentials as well as take-away food but there a two small villages within a 15 minute drive with cafes and supermarkets. Next to the shop are tennis courts which can be hired very cheaply and there is a scenic 9 hole golf course also close to the shop.

The Location

The Location

Greens Beach is an attractive small bushy hamlet on the west side of the mouth of the Tamar river facing Bass Strait and about 68 ams from Launceston Tasmania's second biggest city.

Greens Beach is never very busy and it is sometimes possible to have one of the several nearby beaches to yourself. There are many native animals around including wallabies, wombats and possums and these often graze on lawns and wander about the roads at night (creating some havoc).

There are several local attractions nearby including Narawntapu National park and the Platypus and SeaHorse facilities in nearby Beauty Point .

There are a number of excellent bush walking tracks both in Greens Beach and the adjoining national park. Many of these track through attractive coastal bush providing sea views and access to small coves and beaches.

Travelling to Greens Beach from Launceston means driving along the beautiful Tamar Valley Wine route with over 33 wineries offering cellar door tastings. I

Sheryl and partner from Tasmania, were excellent guests to our home for over a week. They were wonderful guests who communicated well, left our home spotless and enjoyed the facilities and all the Yarra Valley has to offer. It was a smooth transition, they were A1 aussie home swapping guests. We welcome their return.

Our communication & arrangements with them went very well. They gave us loads of tips, truly lovely people. We look forward to having them at our home in May 2022.

We had a wonderful swap with Sheryl. She was easy to communicate with during swap arrangements. They left our house in a perfect condition. The house at Greens Beach was a beautiful modern beach house about 3 minutes walk from the beach. It is was such a wonderful relaxed way to finish our busy tour of Tasmania. I highly recommend Sheryl and her group to anyone contemplating a swap.
