Living in North Queensland is most comfortable in a "Queenslander". Our home is almost 100 years old and is built in a suburb where old such heritage listed properties abound. They are designed to take in the breezes and provide a great standard of living whilst embracing the local culture.
We are fortunate enough to live across the road from two open parks. One of which is one of the three stunning Botanical Gardens in Townsville. It's called "Anderson Park" in and has many of massive "Rain Trees" and other abundant flora & fauna providing a shady cool environment, which makes it a pleasure to live here.
It's a 5 minute walk to the local supermarket. A similar 5 minute drive to the closest shopping centres. The beach is also only 10 minutes away (by car).
This home is designed for enjoying the tropics. It is a double-storey home where the bedrooms are all upstairs and the entire home is fitted out with period style louvres and casement windows so you can get the most from the breezes.
PLEASE NOTE: Our home has external staircases and is not suitable for children under two years old.
The veranda is fitted out to enjoy outdoor BBQ's and al-fresco dining and looks over to the covered pool area where you can relax and cool down.
We do get lovely butterflies using our back yard as a highway. Also in the main park it is abundant; especially at dawn & dusk.
Direct flights daily from Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne. Oh yes; Magnetic Island is a 20 minute ferry ride away. Time has seemingly forgotten about "Maggie". It's beautiful and is almost entirely national park.
We are a family of four although five or six could stay here using our spare beds downstairs. The main bedroom has a purpose built Rosewood king size bed. The middle of house comprises the lounge& dining rooms room. They get the lovely breezes. Generally we dine on the veranda. The weather is perfect for this type of lifestyle.
There are two kids rooms, an upstairs bathroom & the kitchen. Downstairs has tons of space too. It has a second lounge/entertainment area as well as a second bathroom and more.
We have abundant bird life utilising our old-age trees, including our own plants to allure the beautiful Cairns Birdwing & Ulysses Butterflies.
We are experienced house swappers and have done numerous swaps as well as house-sits too. Check out our other endorsements at these two websites (contact us for the links).

Most of those who house swap with us absolutely love "The Strand". It's balluring and most relaxing.
It's a 5 minute drive around the hill into town. Shopping Center is only 10 minutes drive away. Restaurants all 5 minutes away.
Castle Hill is Townsville's finest suburb and it's so close to the strand/beach.
Direct flights daily from Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne. Oh yes; Magnetic Island is a 20 minute ferry ride away. time has seemingly forgotten about "Maggie". It's beautiful and a great place to wind down.
If you like Tropical Rainforest we have some an hour up the road. Why not take a day trip to Paluma? The day after relax on Pallarenda Beach and take in the views (and the serenity). Townsville is a wonderful city and is a great experience from March to October. We stayed in Darren's home in Townsville, we were in Townsville on a study placement at the Townsville Hospital and the home was only a 10 minute drive to the hospital. The children came to as it was school holidays. The pool with it's very sturdy sun cover meant the children could swim any time of the day, wonderful cool pool. The large back deck is where we spent most of our leisure time by day surrounded by tropical trees. The home is a lovely old Queenslander which catches the breezes. It was also a short drive to the Strand where we went for a couple of dinners and lunches by the water. We were made very welcome by Darren and his family with lots of good helpful communication prior to arriving. Our home was left spotless and was treat to come home to. I would highly recommend this property.

Thanks to Darren and Alex for sharing their lovely home. We had a wonderful relaxed stay in Mysterton Townsville A beautiful setting in a charming old Queenslander. The garden, pool and location were close to everything which made our stay so enjoyable. The ambience and serenity of the house, outside living space and gardens meant we did not have to go anywhere to chill out. All we needed for our comfort was there and felt like home. The personal touches on arrival were greatly appreciated .We would love to return.

Thank you, Darren, Alex and Family, for letting us swap with you and enjoy your home. We instantly felt comfortable on arrival and thoroughly enjoyed staying in your house and spending time in Townsville and the surrounding areas. Magnetic Island is a must see destination. The "Queenslander" house is centrally located with amenities all very close by. The highlight was the huge outdoor veranda overlooking the crystal clear pool surrounded by a the palm trees and tropical garden - Bliss! We didn't eat inside once! The car swap worked very well and Fudge the Guinea Pig was very well behaved.! We can definitely recommend a stay in Townsville and a swap at their house Thanks Again Ruth and Edwin

We are a family of 5, we were fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend a week at Darren's home. The house is centrally located in Mundingburra , we were pleasantly surprised that the location was extremely central and we didn't have to drive far to visit all the awesome places Townsville has up on offer. The home was lovely with a great sized pool and patio, the home is also right beside the Botanic Gardens we enjoyed family walks every morning through this picturesque park. Darren was a pleasure to swap with a great communicator and was really helpful throughout the process, our home was of course in immaculate condition on our return. Would highly recommend!
