We're a couple in our early 60's and both are semi-retired. Karen is a special needs carer that loves to garden, travel and do art. John worked for the government for many years and enjoys sport and some gardening. We are first timers at doing this, but offer a much-loved and kept family home now that we are empty nesters.

Beautiful beach-style house 100m from the beach - relax or adventure!
Our home is a single-story 'beach-style' house with ample parking, a huge entertainers deck, bonfire, BBQ and all the home amenities that you could need (dishwasher, dryer, TV, aircon, WIFI, Foxtel, Netflix etc.). We love to entertain friends, family and neighbours, so there is plenty of space.
The home itself is actually a 4 bedroom house (2.5 bath, 2 living, 1 dining), although right now because we are new to this, we have 2 large bedrooms available (one with an ensuite), both with queen beds, ceiling fans, TVs and storage space. The remaining rooms are not available at this stage. We do however have 2 large living rooms, which we often pop an inflated mattress on the floor when the kids come home for XMAS and relatives stay. So it could technically the house could sleep 6 - 8 guests.
There are local shops 1 minute drive away (butcher, chemist, hairdresser, convenience store, hardware etc.) and major supermarkets about 10 minute drive (Woolworths, Coles, Aldi). The local pub, The Orana is a few minutes drive away and serve delicious pizzas in their outdoor oven (John recommends the Satay Chicken).
Blacksmiths is a perfect area for surfing, fishing, golfing, boating, parks, and has at times at times major surf life saving competitions (1 minute walk to Blacksmiths Beach or 5 minute walk to Granny's Pool). If you're an adventure seeker, there is a small airstrip 5 minutes from the house where you can (or watch like us) skydiving onto the beach, Matt Halls' Redbull aerobatic planes and gyroplanes - you can see this from the house/beach (very cool!). The beach itself is 9 miles long so it's quiet at our end and up the other end, you can do 4X4 along the sand dunes. There is so much to do around the area, but it's also a very quiet beachside suburb so we have the best of both worlds. Blacksmiths is a 30 minute drive from the centre of Newcastle and just under 2 hours from Sydney.
Given this is our first family home, the house is surrounded by amazing neighbours who we've known for decades who are very friendly and would give the shirt of their back to help one another. Blacksmiths is mostly home to empty nesters now like us, but there are a few young families also around.

Blue Staffy, 9 months old, called APOLLO. Loves cuddles, toys and the beach. Extremely friendly with all people/animals. BENTLEY 13yrs British shorthair cat, very friendly, low maintenance and sleeps alot. GRUBBY the parrot, chatty and low maintenance.
