Home exchange and house swap holiday accommodation in Los Masos, Le Conflent, Pyrenées Orientales, Occitanie
We are a Franco/Aussie couple in our late 50's working in the arts and film. We want to swap our house in France primarily for somewhere in Sydney (to spend more time with our adult children there). We're pretty flexible with dates and don't need it to be simultaneous as we live mainly in Tasmania. We're very easy to get along with, and very respectful of all the places we stay- we've got great reviews as hosts and guests on airbnb over many years, and would love to connect with the right people in the right place. :-)

Our 4 bedroom family home is nestled in the quaint village of Los Masos, in a region seeped in a rich mixture of French and Catalan culture.
The house is deceptively small from the street, but opens out on garden level to fabulous open panoramas of the mountains, and glorious all day sun.
The open plan kitchen/dining/ living room has a library/music corner with a piano, loads of English and French novels and kids books, CDs & DVDs. A double-sided wood burner makes it super cosy in cooler months.
Kitchen has a dishwasher, gas hotplates, an electric oven, fridge, espresso coffee maker, and a separate cellar with a washing machine and freezer.
Spacious decks with an outdoor dining table, and corner lounging area all lap up the views, with more stairs leading down to the salt water pool. (4x7m,1.3m)
Since its built on a slope, it's a bit of an 'upside down house' so there are 3 bedrooms at street level, and then a staircase leads down to the living areas, 4th bedroom, main bathroom and garden.
The house is just a 2 stroll from the café on the village square (which also stocks fresh bread) but all other amenities- supermarkets, banks, medical centre, pharmacies etc are in Prades (5km)

Los Masos is very calm and only has a café (which serves meals and also sells bread) but closest shops and amentities are just a 3 min drive away in the town of Prades (5km) which has everything you'll (probably) need in terms of supermarkets, banks, medical centre, pharmacies and 2 wonderful weekly markets. (local produce and everything from clothing to mattresses). Prades also has an independant cinema, several cafés on the leafy central town-square, quirky shops, tennis courts and a skate park.
A car is really essential to get around as trains and buses leave from Prades- (buses from Los Masos to anywhere are infrequent) but a good thing to note is the local regional policy of €1 flat fee bus and train fares which is great for a day trip to Perpignan for example.
There are historic villages to explore in all directions, hiking and walking trails everywhere, climbing adventures for kids, water sports on the various rivers and lakes, local seasonal festivals dotted among villages.
