Home exchange and house swap holiday accommodation in Walkamin, Atherton Tablelands, QLD
Our family is Mum (Georgie), Dad (Kym), and our 14-year-old tennis enthusiast Dylan who brings boundless energy and zest to every day. Alongside him, we have our beloved dog, Zoe (3 years old), and our oldest son Jack (18 years old), but he has now moved out and resides in Melbourne, studying at University. Georgie and I lived abroad for many years, and those global experiences have definitely enriched our lives and given us valuable perspectives. During that time we followed our deep-rooted passion for education, (Georgie holds a degree in Education) living in China, working as Montessori Kindergarten and English teachers. This commitment to learning extends to all aspects of life. Our professional journey has revolved around education in regenerative agriculture and most recently developing biological and mineral-based fertilisers. We run our own business, dedicated to sustainable farming practices and, through our work, hope to contribute to the well-being of our planet. On a personal level, our interests range from health and well-being to nurturing our family (pets included!), fishing, camping and lots of tennis! Our son Dylan wishes to pursue a career in professional tennis, hence our interest in being located in South East Queensland, where the opportunities and level of competition is much higher for him to improve. His coach is located in Budermin, so a move to that region for the majority of 2025, would allow him to continue on his path and Georgie & I to support him in that journey.

Our home is nestled on 5 acres of paradise in Far North Queensland, on the Atherton Tablelands.
We crafted our haven from the ground up, designing and implementing a whole system design for water harvesting, layout for fruit trees, gardens etc...
We also designed and co-built our special home, utilising mainly recycled timbers as features after salvaging them from a torn-down Queenslander in Cairns. It has an open plan lounge/dining/kitchen with a front deck overlooking the 200m of river frontage we are lucky to have. The house has been built using zero toxic materials including paints, varnishes and alike.
The home is warm and cozy during winter, we have a small pot belly stove, as well as being cool in the hot/humid far north summers, due to the passive solar design and orientation of the house, allowing us to capture the cool valley breezes.
In addition to native vegetation areas, we have an avocado orchard, fruit trees, a vegetable garden site right outside our kitchen, dams, and a natural swimming pool right by our deck, which is used almost every day during summer. Over the past 15 years, we've had a menagerie of animals, including cows, goats, ducks, geese, chickens, and even pigs. We currently don't have any farm animals.

Cairns, considered the gateway to Australia's Great Barrier Reef, is a city in tropical Far North Queensland. Its Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park tells the stories of indigenous Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with music and dance. Cairns Esplanade, lined with bars and restaurants, has a swimming lagoon. Northwest of the city, Daintree National Park spans mountainous rainforest, gorges and beaches.
The Tablelands (or Atherton Tablelands) is a highland region of northern Australia near Cairns, Queensland. The landscape's mix of rainforest, wetlands and savanna is home to numerous birds and wildlife like tree kangaroos and wallabies. The region encompasses the Waterfalls Circuit, a 17km driving loop that includes Millaa Millaa Falls, where the forested setting is a favourite of photographers.
