June 2024, so no leaves on the mulberry tree or the grape vine on the veranda of the main sleeping cottage. This has air conditioning, a queen sized bed and windows in every direction.

You can just see the white roof behind the wattles, and the entrance road.

The front veranda, you can just see the birdbath lower right. Sunbath is winter. It's a dry area so winter days are cold in the night but warm during the day.

Perfect sunny place in winter, shady in summer, watch birds in comfort.

Smaller bedroom with ensuite and a double bed, just off the back veranda.

Corner of living room usually kept empty for yoga.

Daybed at one end of kitchen, a favourite spot for hanging around. Extra bed.

The kitchen, while you wash up you can birdwatch, I keep binoculars at hand. The dam is below and reflects the light beautifully. There are ducks and waterbirds. And yabbies, you cant see them but they attract birds.

This was taken when the dam was fully full, just before dawn in winter when the light hits the rocks like this for about ten minutes.

SEEKING SWAP Dec 2023 or Jan 2024. I'm a retired computing professional living in the Capertee Valley which is an hour out of Lithgow on the way to Mudgee. I live in a simple, small but spacious and light filled 2-bedroom cottage surrounded by spectacular sandstone cliffs. The closest shop is the servo at Capertee half an hour away so you have to come prepared. In the large shed there are two competition standard ping pong tables and a good dart board. There are two decent bicycles and one e-bike, there is an 6km ride to the end of the road and back which is not hilly Currently the dam is full enough to make kayaking quite fun. Although I live a very rustic life I spent the other 70% of my life in the city so I'm actually quite civilised and will take great care of and respect your property.

The House

Simple house in a stunning location on 100acres.
Comfortable and uncluttered with lots of windows.
Each bedroom is in a separate cottage with a short walk from the main house. Air conditioning in every room as well as a slow combustion heater in the living room.
Set on 100 acres so a long way from any neighbours.

The things I love about living here

Quietness, privacy and beauty.
Watching the birds, Capertee Valley is world renowned for the number and variety of birds.
Direct access to Wollemi and Gardens of Stone National Parks. The Pipeline track to Newnes can be reached from my back fence.
The night sky, watching the full moon rise.
Playing Ping Pong in my shed.
Getting local goats cheese, honey, eggs, goats milk from my neighbour.
Visiting wildlife - kangaroos, wallabies, goannas, antechinus, frogs, hares, foxes.
Bike-riding along the quiet roads.
Paddling on my dam or driving to Ganguddy for a longer paddle.
My daughter loves going for long runs, last year the Glow Worm Tunnel Trail Marathon started and finished in Glen Davis.
Playing bridge on Sundays at the Paddock Cafe.
Scrambling up Coorongooba Creek to swim in the waterholes, or shoot down the fast bit.

The Location

Capertee Valley is a wide canyon with spectacular cliffs all around. It is surrounded by National Parks, Wollemi, Gardens of Stone and Capertee.
It is world famous among bird watchers for the number and variety of birds to be seen.
Many painters come to to paint in Pleine Air.
There are a mixture of farrms and people who just love being here.
Local towns - Kandos is becoming and artist settlement, Rylstone is a historic town with good places to eat, Mudgee is not far with its wineries.
Glen Davis itself has ruins of an old shale processing works with weekly tours.
