Home exchange and house swap holiday accommodation in VIRGINIA, Brisbane, QLD
We are about to retire and set ourselves free from the restraints of work; to travel and see the wonders of the world, to meet new friends and enjoy the cultures of other places. We have backgrounds in the healthcare industry, worked in rural and regional Queensland in private practice and then in the public system in Brisbane. Our home is newly renovated, 10 km of the Brisbane city, on the northside of the river and close to the Westfield Shopping Centre, at Chermside. The sea breeze from Moreton Bay, keeps the house cool, with the back verandah which overlooks the tree-scape of our residential suburb providing the best spot for that morning coffee. You are spoilt for choice of indoor/outdoor areas; the front courtyard, the front verandah, the back verandah, the barbecue area and private back yard. The street is tree lined. All houses are residential (no units or apartment blocks) and located on the high point of Wavell Heights. The bus interchange at Chermside and the train hub at Northgate, both a 5-minute drive away, provide excellent public transport into Brisbane city. There are many supermarkets, restaurants, clubs and pubs close by. The Airport (International and Domestic) terminals are conveniently located a 15-minute drive from home. Access to the Motorway to the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, is met on the way to the airport.

On the entry level, you'll be welcomed at the front verandah, three double bedrooms, one ensuite, one bathroom, open kitchen / dining / lounge room which opens onto the back verandah and laundry.
The bathrooms have been renovated in 2024; each have shower recesses, toilet suites, hung vanity, shaving cabinets, high-quality brushed nickel fittings. The kitchen includes all the conveniences, including: gas hot plates, fan-forced oven, microwave/convection oven, dual fridge/freezer, mix master and blender. As Ruth and Jason are avid cooks, you'll find all the pots, pans and utensils you may require. This level is available to guests.
Internal stairs lead down to a separate self-contained 'granny flat' which is occupied by Ruth's brother, Mark. The granny flat has its own entrance. Mark is a health professional and works fulltime in a nearby practice. He is available to orientation you to the house and address any concerns that arise, otherwise he will not impact on your stay.
There is a gas bar-b-cue downstairs for entertaining on the lawn or the verandahs.
