House Swap with us

Hi, we are Mark & Leslie. We are a retired professional couple and love home exchange. We have done over 50 exchanges in Australia and overseas and we pride ourselves in leaving the homes immaculate. In our professional careers we ran our own successful businesses. We are experienced hosts in both simultaneous and non-simultaneous exchanges as well as points exchanges. Mark is champion sailor and is an ex-member of The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard in Cairns and now is the holder of a commercial Australian skippers licence. We are both keen walkers and love exploring historic sites and picturesque countryside. We like to spend time in each place so we can absorb the culture and local customs.

The House

The House

This wonderfully appointed modern apartment is located directly on the waterfront of the iconic Boyne River. We have a King bedroom with walkin robe and large ensuite. A second queen bedroom has its own bathroom with bath and separate toilet. Open plan kitchen, dining and lounge leads onto an alfresco wrap around balcony to make the most of the views. There is an internal laundry and ducted air-conditioning.
There is a fully equipped media room boasting a smart TV with Fetch Mighty set-top box, and hi-fi stereo system. The apartment has fast Internet.

The building is a secure, wheelchair friendly place with double underground parking and a lift.

Here birds and nature abound. Watch dolphins fishing as the tide turns or see Brahmini Kites soar as they search their prey. Birds seen from our verandah in just one day were white sulpher crested cockatoo, black cockatoo, Kookaburra, Butcher Bird, Rainbow Lorakeet, Carmine Bee Eater, Ducks, Noisy Minor, Ibis, Pee Wee, Crows Friar Bird, Ternns and the wonderful Brahamani Kite.

We had a very comfortable stay in Mark and Leslie's townhouse. It was so close and convenient to the Kuranda train, with some nice cafes and a French bakery nearby. The location was nice and quiet with only a short drive to the city's esplanade where you can stroll for ages along the shoreline. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from along the way. Our first time in Cairns was really enjoyable Thank you Mark and Leslie.

Alan and Yvonne from Chevallum QLD (Oct 2018)

Mark and Leslie provide a clean and tidy unit with colourful, warmly decorated touches of Africa, in Holloways Beach, Queensland. The neighbours made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed some fun conversations by the swimming pool. The pretty upstairs bedroom attracts cooling sea breeze during the night and the ground floor living rooms stay a pleasant temperature during the day. There is plenty to do and see around Cairns and if you do not have a car, the bus stop Is very close. There is a large shopping complex in Smithfield. The unit looks out to a community lawn and pool area, surrounded by colourful tropical plants. Under the shade of the back verandah, beautiful tropical garden frames the patio table and chairs. A small gate leads guests to a very tidy lane where 2 large white homes, have fresh, clean backyards, which are not at all unpleasant to walk around to the beach front. Holloways Beach has clean white sand and interesting walks in either direction. There is an excellent cafe/restaurant, Liquor Land, small general store and laundromat. One could not help but relax in such a peaceful setting and we quickly became unaware of the odd plane overhead. Mark and Leslie left our home immaculate and we all got to know each other a little better with happy communications during our home exchange. We are happy to endorse this destination and friendly Aussie House Swap couple. Pamela and Terry South Brighton, SA

Pamela Bauer from South Brighton SA (Oct 2018)

It was a pleasure to do our first house swap with Leslie and Mark. Pre- swap communication was clear and thorough and they took great care of the house and car, leaving them clean and tidy, ready for the next guests. Thanks!
