Home exchange and house swap holiday accommodation in Moraira, Costa Blanca North, Alicante
We are a retired couple who have lived in this part of Spain for the last 12 years, having previously lived in Southern France for 11 years after emigrating from the UK permanently in 2002. We enjoy eating out, playing bowls and petanque amongst other things and exploring the architecture of cities and culture both in Spain and other countries. We are members of U3A which is an organisation for retirees with many groups to suit most interests. As our contribution to the organisation, we were group leaders for one of the petanque groups. Whilst in Singapore last year we met the president of U3A Melbourne, which was great to have that link. We also have friends in Melbourne. We both enjoy cooking and sharing nice meals with friends. Suzie's main hobby is her garden and making jams and chutneys from the various fruit trees in the garden. Mike likes his design projects and making them work (most of the time!) having spent most of his working life as a design engineer. At the moment though, because of illness, we are unable to travel by air, which limits our plans and aspirations somewhat. In 2022 we spent a month in Australia and really enjoyed our time and the cultural experience, which influenced some of the artwork we now do. We were hoping to visit WA this year, but this has had to be put on hold, so at the moment we are unable to swap or host. However, for the time being, if anyone reading this would like to correspond with us about their lives in Australia and travels in Europe (or would like to know more about Spain) we would be delighted to chat with you. Our home is a traditional style Spanish villa which we have sympathetically extended and modernised. Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in the suburbs, we are only a 20 minute stroll to the beach and the beautiful lively town of Moraira (known as the jewel of the Costa Blanca region).
Our home has 2 double bedrooms (each with en-suite facilities), a spacious lounge, dining room (which could be a 3rd bedroom), a fully fitted modern kitchen, guest shower room / toilet, a utility room, an enclosed sun terrace, a covered sun terrace and an open terrace with jacuzzi.
In the grounds we have a swimming pool situated on its own terraced area with a covered pergola for al-fresco eating and relaxing. To the rear of the property we have landscaped gardens.

Moraira is situated almost half way between the major cities of Valencia and Alicante and is in the Costa Blanca region of eastern Spain.
Known as the jewel of Costa Blanca it is a town to suit all ages and has easy access to shops, the beach, cafes etc. There is a good selection of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets.
You don't have to worry about speaking Spanish as English is widely understood and spoken in Moraira and surrounding towns. People are very friendly and helpful here.
For international travel you would need to fly to Madrid or Barcelona and then take a 1 hour internal flight to Alicante. Alicante airport has several good car hire companies, also Moraira is served by a very good bus service to and from Alicante airport which can be pre booked and there's a bus stop at the end of our road for both Alicante airport and local buses.
