House Swap with us

We are a retired couple (teacher and stone mason) living in a wonderful 2 storey beach house and love living by the sea. We enjoy good food and wine, walking, nature and music. We are not big city people. Our house is ideal for a couple or family. We particularly like simultaneous swaps and are reasonably flexible with dates as we own and manage 2 airbnbs. We have thoroughly enjoyed 15 house swaps so far- 4 within NZ, and the others in Tasmania and Australia.

The House

The House

Our home is a 2 storey beach house with views of the sea as well as rural ones. It is 15 minutes from Dunedin's CBD and on a bus route should you want an alternative way of travelling.
The master bedroom has a dressing room and ensuite as well as having magic views of the sea. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and the third (which is an open area)) has a king single and single.
The main bathroom has a large bath and a shower. The ensuite has a walk in shower.
Downstairs is the open plan kitchen/dining/living. Downstairs again to ground level there is a double garage.
There is a spa on the beach side deck of the house while on the deck facing hills and paddocks there is a sofa, 2chairs, and the BBQ.
A 2 minute stroll over the dunes and you're on a wonderful sandy beach.

The things we love about living here

  • The proximity to the beach (we have beach access)
  • The closeness to town-20 mins to CBD
  • Sunny, warm aspect
  • It's like being on holiday permanently.

The Location

The Location

Ocean View is a short drive from Dunedin CBD (15 kms) on the Southern Scenic Route and approximately 10 kms from Dunedin Airport. There is a local fish and chip shop minutes away, and a 5 minute drive takes you to Brighton, which is a popular surfing beach with volunteer surf life surfing patrollers from December to March. Brighton also has a café and dairy.
Ocean View beach is long and sandy, and is a great spot for horse riding (stables are 5 minutes drive away), brisk walks, and often horses and sulkies are seen exercising. Sea lions and seals can also be spotted at times on the beach.

We absolutely loved your very spacious, clean and comfortable house. Being able to walk across the garden to the beach is pure magic. Such a great location for getting into the city to sight-see or for coffee and lunch. We've done lots of exploring, Mt Cargill, Port Chalmers, Sandfly Bay, out along the Peninsula. All fabulous and we've seen lots of wildlife : seals, sea-lions, albatrosses, spoonbills, stilts. Thank you so much! You have a very special piece of paradise and we loved every minute.
