House Swap with us

We are busy empty nesters; Lewis lectures at Griffith Uni and Liz is a postnatal care provider. We've been fortunate to live on Tamborine Mountain for 22 years and love being part of this wonderful community. Some of the many aspects of house swapping that we enjoy include building new connections, exploring new communities and sharing our lovely mountain home. Our ideal locations have easy access to the water and/or walking trails, however exploring anywhere is always a pleasure. We have a beautiful home that we take very good care of, we treat the homes we stay with even more care. To sum up, Lewis and I are happy, respectful and joyful in all our travels.

The House

The House

Our large, well-appointed home is situated in a very quiet cul de sac with filtered views to the coast from the long front veranda. It's beautifully insulated by design but also has ceiling fans plus ducted aircon for summer and a toasty wood fire for winter. We have all the usual television streaming subscriptions. There's a great screened back porch that is perfect for sitting and gazing at the back garden and the steep rainforest council reserve. As keen Landcare members we are currently working to regenerate the reserve. Over 800 trees and shrubs have already been planted, replacing much of the morning glory carpet.

The things we love about living here

  • We live in a quiet area of the mountain.
  • We enjoy wandering around the few close by streets as well as the small hike up the steep road behind us to Esme Lahey Environmental Park.
  • Our home is a warm, open and welcoming space.
  • The ease of access to a wonderful variety of rainforest walks
  • Attractions include award winning wineries, cafes, bookshops, restaurants and art and crafts galore.
  • Sunsets and sunrises - hard to choose which is more beautiful - looking to the Great Dividing Range from the lookout as the sun sets, or watching day dawn from our front veranda as the sun rises over the sea.

Our exchange to Lewis and Liz's Mt Tamborine home was a fantastic contrast from our usual coast life. Their home had everything one could wish for and was of a different and interesting design with undercover outdoor living both front and rear. I particularly enjoyed all the interesting pieces of artwork and feature wall of multiple old mirrors which must have been accumulated over many years. We were fortunate in that recent heavy rain had made quite spectacular viewing of the several waterfalls set within beautiful rain forest, all within easy driving distance. Too many coffee shops, vineyards and eating places for us to try them all but we did our best! A bonus was a plentiful supply of avocados available on many roadside stalls and no humidity. Liz and Lewis left our home in an exceptionally clean and tidy condition so we would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone considering an exchange in their area,

Ali and Den from Peregian Beach QLD (Dec 2021)

We can highly recommend Liz and Lewis's beautiful home in the Tambourine Mountains, inland from the Gold Coast. The natural surroundings, the peace and quiet, contribute to a relaxing stay. Five minutes by car are quirky cafe's serving delicious food and coffee. So many Bush walking tracks within a short distance, you are spoilt for choice. Liz and Lewis 'home is immaculate, we particularly loved the wood burning fire, as the nights can be quite chilly. Liz is a great correspondent and always replies to emails. We hope we will be able to return to this special place in the mountains.

Jenell and Noel from Coal Point Lake Macquarie NSW (Sep 2018)

We have had two house swaps to Liz's and Lewis's home in Mt Tambourine. We loved staying here and both times had equally rewarding experiences. Their home is large and comfortable, well-equipped and set on two acres of gardens and lawns with a view to the coast. We felt welcomed and privileged to experience their home. There are so many wonderful things to do and see on Tambourine Mountain wherever your preferences lie.
