House Swap with us

We retired at 50 & 46 respectively. We are now 65 & 62 years old now and we have been travelling for the last 13 years almost exclusively by home exchanging. In the past 13 years almost all of our home exchanges have been 'long term exchanges', that is to say '4 weeks or longer' and most have been 2-3 months long. We are completed our 101st long term home exchange and we have home exchanges arranged until 1st May 2025. We are now looking for home exchanges from 1st May 2025 onwards. We home exchange with Australia & NZ between 1st October until 30th April each year (7 months) and with the Northern Hemisphere between 1st May and 30th September (5 months) each year.

The House

The House

The property is very much an inner city apartment and close to everything the centre of London offers.

It is a 10 minute walk down the road to reach Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

Being in the central London area, there are extensive public transport links to all of the local attractions.

The apartment is a 2 bedroom apartment and it has 1 x King Size and 1 x Queen Size double beds. The sofa also has a fold out double bed.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
---------------------------
If your home exchange property is located outside the central city area (that has a lot of public transport) then we would require exchanging our apartment without a car for your home + car exchange as we find this solves the hassles of home exchanging with places that have either little or no public transport.

---------------------------------------

We have cable TV, high speed 800 GB/sec fibre optic broadband wireless internet access and all of the typical modern conveniences (washing machine/dishwasher/clothes dryer).

Being in the centre of London most houses/apartments have only on-street parking which means it is often extremely difficult to find a parking space. For that reason we do not have a car. Instead we have access to the extensive London transport network.

We do have 2 bicycles (mountain bikes) which we use to ride around Central London and often to go shopping on. These bicycles can also be included in the home swap.

There are supermarkets nearby (Tesco, Sainsburys and a Co-Op) which is are between 5 to 15 minutes walk away.

The London Underground (Bermondsey Station Zone 2) is a 5 minute walk away. The London Bridge Railway Station (Zone 1) is 20 minute walk away.

We also have a variety of Satellite & Cable television (Sky, Freesat and Talk-Talk Youview) channels and numerous radio channels. We also have Netfix.

We have wireless internet so if you bring your laptop/notebook computer you can access the internet anywhere in our home.

The things we love about living here

  • Access to London's West End Shows
  • Endless food and entertainment options in Central London.

I am so grateful to Philip and Amanda for this house swap and their time and suggestions which resulted in a wonderful 3 weeks in London for me and my daughter. The location of their flat is incredible with easy access to all the tourist destinations and with everything you need in the flat to ensure a warm and cosy stay.

Colleen from Victoria Park WA (Feb 2024)

We want to thank Philip and Amanda for the excellent home exchange in their flat in Bermondsey, London. They were very helpful in facilitating a smooth exchange, enabling us to catch up with our relatives, experience the wonders and theatre of London, and touring by Britrail to other cities and towns such as Edinburgh, Oxford and Dover. The flat is in a most convenient spot for getting to know London. The flat was so suitably equipped with all we needed. We heartily endorse this couple who also looked after our home so well, and with whom it was so easy to communicate.

Peter & Gillian from Mentone VIC (Dec 2023)

Philip and Amanda are very experienced house-swappers - and it shows. The amount of information they provided us with was phenomenal and they communicated promptly when needed. Their flat is warm and comfortable and in a brilliant location within walking distance of Tower Bridge and with a bus stop outside the door and the tube a 5-minute walk away. Highly recommended.

Laura and Max from NOLLAMARA WA (Aug 2023)

I have recently spent 2 months in London in an exchange with Amanda and Philip. The location is great, a 15 minute walk to Tower Bridge. The first thing that you see on entering their apartment is a wonderful view that encompasses the Thames and the buildings of Canary Wharf. It is close to Bermondsey Tube Station, on the Jubilee Line which crosses all other tube lines in London, making it easy to get around. It is a short walk to buses that also provide transport around London. A supermarket a few doors along the road was welcome. The apartment was equipped with everything I needed to make my stay comfortable, a home away from home. My ambition was to get to explore London without wasting time travelling around and I achieved that with the transport options available. Amanda and Philip are generous hosts who have provided everything to make a stay there a great experience.

Helen from Brunswick East VIC (Dec 2019)

Amanda and Philip looked after my home with the greatest care and consideration. I not only appreciate how neat and tidy they left it but also how good my car looked. Philip detailed it himself and it looked like it was done by the professionals but better. He also fixed a couple of sticking locks and left some wonderful hints on how I can make my next house swap even better. Their home in Staines was very was comfortable and in a very convenient location. We loved the village which was within walking distance and having access to their lovely little Renault to drive to various places was fantastic. Philip and Amanda also left very comprehensive notes on how to get to places using the public transport system as well as information on how to use everything in their home, which we found extremely helpful. I would like to thank them both for allowing us to take advantage of the home exchange and wish them good luck with their future endeavours.
