Home exchange and house swap holiday accommodation in Wheatley, Oxford and the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire
We are a semi retired couple early 60s based near Oxford in the UK. We have a daughter and Grandchildren living in Townsville Australia. Our interests include all aspects of natural history, especially Australian fauna (because it is so different from ours) and we have special interests in Birds and Fossils. We visited Australia in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2019 and our next visit is likely to be 2022/23 either side of Christmas. When we visit Oz next time, we would like a short visit to another location such as Tasmania or another location in Oz. We particularly like non-simultaneous hospitality exchanges so both parties can holiday in summer time and we enjoy the social aspects of meeting the couple we exchange with.

We live on the outskirts of a village in Oxfordshire, with the benefits of a rural aspect and yet within 20 minutes from Oxford, home of the oldest university in English-speaking world.
Buildings in Oxford demonstrate examples of every English architectural period since the arrival of the Saxons, including the iconic, mid-18th-century Radcliffe Camera. Oxford is known as the "city of dreaming spires", a term coined by poet Matthew Arnold in his poem Thyrsis, referring to the harmonious architecture of Oxford's university buildings. There are many museums in Oxford, our personal favourite is the universityNatural History museum which we believes even eclipses the famous London NHM. Meanwhile, in Wheatley we have all essential local amenities, a bird of prey visitor centre literally next door, plenty of olde worlde pubs and the famous Waterperry, gardens a 15 minute drive away. The country side of Oxfordshire is, in our view as good as anywhere in England. We are also very close to both motorway and bus link to London, which can be reached within the hour.

We really enjoyed our time with Alan and Petula when they stayed with us in our home. We were very comfortable sharing interesting conversations, complimentary interests and great company. When we stayed with Alan and Petula they shared with us some of their favourite places and were helpful in recommending places of particular interest to us. Wheatley is a pleasant village on the outskirts of Oxford and well situated. We were warmly received and felt welcome and we are very happy to recommend Alan and Petula for future exchanges

Our hospitality exchange in Wheatley in May 2015 was a happy and friendly experience. Alan and Petula were a great help with information about their interesting local area. We recommend Alan & Petula for future hospitality exchanges.
