Profile: Couple
We are Michael(38)and Bridget(45),a married couple with our son Aarod (15). Michael is a Company director and I am an ex Registered Nurse - (now Artist/Domestic Goddess) and we enjoy travelling and sampling great local food & wine. I like yoga and walks on the beach & Michael likes surfing & playing sax. As a family we spend time on the beach, cycling to the local aerodrome cafe' or farmer's market or joining in on activities here at the village including outdoor movies, pizza nights, and happy hours. We have not done a home exchange before, we are tired of holidays in hotels, and prefer to discover new places from the perspective of a local. We are interested in alternative energy, sustainability, permaculture, personal growth, good food, wine and music, being in Nature, and growing organic/biodynamic food. We are hoping to spend some time in Melbourne over Christmas as my niece is in the Alfred hospital. We prefer school holiday swaps but will be looking for a longer term swap or swaps later next year as Michael has long service leave.

About our House: Our newly built home has 3 bedrooms with built in robes, one queen, one double one king single. The kitchen has new stainless steel appliances including quiet efficient dishwasher, and Samson Juicer. We have LCD digital TV with Blue ray DVD in lounge and a smaller LCD TV with inbuilt DVD in the master bedroom. We have 2 stereo's a flat screen computer with High speed internet and printer/copier/fax machine. Our home is modern, energy efficient, cool in summer, warm in winter, and light filled. It has an open plan kitchen dining room, & lounge. The deck overlooks fields, hills and expansive sky views. It is private with a 5 person spa, hammocks and deck chairs. Surrounded by our edible garden, with many fruit trees and vines, olives, and herbs. (all irrigated on a timed dripper system). We love spending time on our deck as it feels like all of the land we look out over is ours. We can see the sea and great sunsets. We use rainwater caught on our roof, our hot water is heated via soloar panels, and our electricity is offset by 1KW solar panels. We have a water wall attached to solar panels which heats the house in winter. For those wet winter nights we have an ethanol fire which warms the house nicely but mostly makes us feel toasty watching the flames. All of our grey water is recycled in a waste water treatment plant on our village farm. The Ecovillage is a friendly welcoming place where most people know eachother, it is very safe and often neighbours borrow swap and barter with eachother.
